Pima County Sheriff's Department
Tucson, AZ 85749 ![]() (520) 295-4511 (520) 295-4505 pimasheriff.net ![]() By Bruce C from NYC, NY Posted Jan 9, 2011 Just a note to express my sympathy to the fine hard working members of the Tucson SD. I have been in Law Enforcement as a member (Detective) of a County Police Dept. outside NYC for 27 yrs. That Sheriff has disgraced your Dept. by his ludicrous public comments involving the motives of the shooter. The statements were born of his own leftist adgenda, his hatred of American values and his own pompous stupidity. If you notice in other cases where a police spokesman is required to give statements involving, really any case that becomes public, they are usually individuals who are qualified to give public statements and the most important rule is that they have the dicipline to count thier words and speak only of the facts as they relate to the case and facts that will not compromise the case. There is absolutely no evidence to support the comments that the Sheriff made. In fact, their is evidence that the shooter may have had extreme leftist leanings. In any event, no comment should have been made regarding that issue so early in the investigation. Unless he is a civilian appointee, he looks like he has plenty of time on the job and should know that any statements he makes are roserio and are part of the case when it goes to court. Your Sheriff just compromised your case and laid the groundwork for the shooters defense. He disgraced the entire Law Enforcement Community by looking and sounding like an idiot. He should be fired and allow the members of the Department to continue their work as the professionals they are.
